Srinagar, Feb 19 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday dismissed Pakistan's resolution on Kashmir, saying that no resolution, force or propaganda can alter the fact that the Union Territory is an integral part of India.
Addressing a press conference at Jammu, BJP Spokesperson Gourav Gupta referred to a key moment in 1947 when Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister and Sheikh Abdullah, the JKNC founder went to the UN and stated that ‘the minority wants to live with Hindustan’.
Gupta questioned why the issue continues to be raised despite being repeatedly rejected. He also referred to the resolution passed in Pakistan’s Parliament, which raised concerns about the rights of Kashmir, particularly focusing on democratic rights and the situation in the region. He dismissed the resolution as an attempt to revive outdated thinking regarding Kashmir.
He said that no force, propaganda, or baseless resolution could change the reality that Jammu and Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of India.
Gupta also highlighted that while Pakistan claimed human rights violations in Kashmir, it overlooked its own internal issues, including significant human rights abuse in regions like Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh.
The spokesperson also responded to Pakistan's claims regarding Article 370 and Article 35A, saying that it was a historic decision made on August 5, 2019, when these articles were abolished.
He stated that significant changes have taken place in Kashmir since then, with improvements in development, democracy and infrastructure, despite Pakistan’s continued efforts to internationalize the issue.
Gupta pointed out that the international community had already witnessed the transformation in Jammu and Kashmir during the G20 summit and subsequent visits.
He said that while Pakistan continues to raise the Kashmir issue in international forums, the situation in the region has drastically changed positively—(KNO)
